The Effect Of Nitrogen And Helium On Opposed Flow Flame Spread In Polyvinyl Chloride Tubes, 1991
Item
Abstract
The effect of varying concentrations of nitrogen or helium diluent in oxygen on flame spread in polyvinylchloride tubes was investigated over a range of tube sizes and oxidizer flows. The addition of diluent to the oxygen caused a large decline in the flame spread rate, approximately an order of magnitude in the case of 50% diluent. Helium caused the flame spread rate to be greater than in the case of nitrogen diluent, except at higher flows. A new flame spread regime, termed the fuel...
